Brony tribute #1: ACRacebest

Like I said on Monday I will be making brony tributes every Wednesday and this is the first from the series. I also wanted to make a blog about me becoming a brony this week so decided to pick the brony whose work had something to do with it. And I sure hope that you know this great guy and he is ACRacebest!

Race's OC made by Gray-Gold

It was January last year when I got in touch with ponies for the first time. For a long time I have been watching videos from YouTube celebrities, The FineBrothers. Well, one day they posted a new episode to their show "Teens React" where bunch of teens react to something. Well, in this episode they reacted to some weird and childish TV-show called My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic. I watched the episode and was bit amazed when I heard that teen and grown men watch a show for little girls but I just continued my life and for awhile I didn't even remember the video. Then, about a month later when I was watching YouTube I saw this video again. I went to watch it again, then I didn't know why. I watched it and I saw an interesting video title in the recommends section: "Bronies react to teen react to My Little Pony"...

So this the point where Race steps in because he is the mastermind behing that video! I watched it and I was like: "Those people seem very nice, actually they are little bit like me. Oh, and that yelling pony was funny!" This was the point where I started to get why these people like the show but it took me couple of days before I decided the watch the first episode... but that's a story for another blog.

Of course the Bronies react is like the "biggest" thing what Race does and I love them. But that's not the main thing why I like ACRacebest... The most important thing about him is that he is just as crazy as I am! I can totally relate to him! His random dances in public and him just being random is so funny and relaxing to watch because now I know that I'm not the only one in the world being as crazy. And that is why I watch his con vlogs. There are many people who do video coverage on pony conventions but I watch Race's vlogs because it's almost like I was at the convention myself because I relate to him.

His early stuff is also pretty great! Like a Faust has long been one my favourite songs/PMV's. And don't even get me talking about As a Brony! The greatest ponified song ever! One day I heard In the Navy in a radio and instantly I started to sing Race's version and my parents were like "What the hell are you singing!?"

So should you subscribe to his YouTube channel? YES! And follow him on Twitter also. Race has a great Twitter avatar btw... because I have Apple Bloom with the same pose that Race's OC has as my Twitter avatar and every time I see it, it looks like they are about to hug. See for yourself:

And for Race, if you happen to read this, I just want to say THANK YOU! Without your Bronies react I may not have ever joined the brony fandom. Keep being awesome! And remember you owe me that hug! I will see you at this years BronyCon where I intend to travel from Finland.

And of course, thanks to everyone who had the time to read my first brony tribute. What did you think about the concept? Just for reminders I will do these every Wednesday until I ran out of bronies (like that will ever happen). Stay tuned for more blog posts to come! This weekend I'm going to review my favourite MLP: FiM episode.

My thoughts on Equestria Girls

Okay, I decided to do a little alternation to the plans I spoke about in the last blog. I was going to tell you the story of me becoming a brony but because people are freaking out because the spin-off Equestria Girls, I decided to calm people up and tell what I think about this.

To start with, I never hated the concept. I like the fact that My Little Pony has become so huge that Hasbro wants to expand the universe and the brand. To those who think that MLP: FiM is the only cartoon worth of watching, this spin-off might be little too much. But for myself, I love a wide range of cartoon and I'm pretty excited about Equestria Girls.

I figured out that this new addition to the MLP brand could be compared to the products that for example DC Comics or Marvel does. Both of them has dozens of different comic book universes. In some universes Spiderman is Caucasian in the year 2099 and in other he lives in today and is Latino. This comparison might sound a bit far fetch but basically it's the same thing. And it's okay if you don't like Equestria Girls. Some people think that dancing and surfing Batman from the 60s is the best thing ever but Nolan fanatics consider it stupid.

It's basically the same thing, right? And points to the person who knows what's the thing in the middle.

Then to the trailer which I believe every reader has watched, but if you haven't check it out here. I have watched the trailer over and over again to see and figure out everything that's in it. I'm not going to list every fact from it here because many have already posted them. List which Sethisto put up in Equestria Daily is pretty good. But still I want to point out some of things that I found interesting.

The thing that seems to annoy people the most is that the trailer hints that Twilight and the blue haired boy might have little bit of romance in the movie. I can see why people hate this, because it's so typical for these high school cartoons. But for me, I see this "relationship" as a good thing for the storyline. First Twilight is freaked out for being as and with these creatures that we like to call humans. She meets this boy but don't know how to act around him because Twilight is Twilight. But as the story goes on, Twilight gets a crush to this boy. For what I think, one of the "lessons" in this movie will be: "What to do when you have a crush" and I mean like the crushes that just (junior) high schoolers have. But I have one problem with this... Why the hell he looks like Shining Armor!? I have a great citation for this situation: IT'S NOT... CREEPY!

The first Equestria Girls images were pretty bad and I didn't like the character models. But now, seeing them animated, I start to like their appearance. The animation is awesome like in the show that we all like and the ponie... I meant people have great facial expressions. And it's so relaxing to hear that the voices are made by the so talented crew which we love! Oh, and Spike's a dog... I'm not sure what think about that.

Hmm... He does look pretty cute!

To cut the long story short I'm going to quote Saberspark: Trust the staff! All the time I see people praising Meghan McCarthy, Daniel Ingram and voice actors, but now when they are doing something different, most of you seem to hate it. The same has happened with Littlest Pet Shop. The creators were the same but a large group of people still hates the show. Like I said earlier, you don't have to like everything, but meaningless ranting is just stupid. And if you hate it because it's not FiM, then you're just being hypocrite.

I'm excited to see this movie and I'm little bit sad that 99% certain it's never going to be shown in theatres here in Finland and if the DVD hits the stores here it's going to be dubbed. So once again I needed to import it from states with high shipping costs and strangle with region codes. But what wouldn't I do for this hobby...

Thanks for reading my thoughts on this matter. What do you think about this? Tell me in comments below!

PS. If this video doesn't make you like the Equestria Girls, then I'm clueless...

Hey everypony!

I'm Jussi, but I'm known as Rioichi around the internet so I'm going to stick with that name. I decided to start a blog! Why, you ask? Well, because I'm being stupid and staying up all night, every night so I wanted to get something to do. And, yes this blog is dedicated to the fantastic series My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and brony fandom.

So what I'm going to write in here? Well I have decided to build a good schedule that those who are interested following my blog know exactly when new stuff gets published. Okay, here is the plan:

On Mondays I will write about me and ponies, just like the name of my blog says. I will write stories what's happening in my "brony--life", show my awesome collection and just writing everything PONY!

And on Wednesdays I will make a "Brony tribute". Each week I'm going to pick one brony, ranging from super popular musicians to not-so-known bronies. I want to tell you about them and why I like the stuff which he/she makes.

And finally, on weekends I'm going to post a review of something. Because we're not going to get new episodes until next winter then I'm might review old episodes or maybe something made by the fans.

Let me tell you something about me... I'm 18 years old and I live in the Crys... er... I mean in Finland! I'm couple of weeks away from graduating from high school. I have always been a nerd and I like playing games, watching TV or movies etc.

You're still reading this? Awesome! I think I'm going to break my schedule the first week because now I'm so excited to start telling you everything but I try to withheld my enthusiasm. Tomorrow will be the "Monday-blog" and I'm going to tell you how I became a brony!

Oh, and by the way, the pony above is my OC made by my friend SharkMachine.
